County Unemployment Rate at 6.7%

HARRISBURG — Clinton County’s unemployment rate sits at 6.7 percent as of June, a marked improvement from June of 2013 when the jobless rate was 9.7 percent

Numbers released on Tuesday show the county had a labor force of 19,800 as of June with 18,500 county residents employed and 1,300 unemployed.

A year ago June those numbers were a labor force of 19,600 with 17,700 working and 1,900 unemployed.

The best recent mark for Clinton County was this April when the employed numbered 19,000 out of a work force of 20,200, equating to a 5.8 percent jobless rate.

The Department of Labor and Industry released these June figures for nearby communities/counties: Cameron County, 7.5 percent; Clearfield County, 6.3 percent; Potter County, 7.0 percent; Tioga, 6.5 percent; also State College 4.8 percent and Williamsport 5.9 percent.

The Pennsylvania unemployment rate was 5.8 percent while the national rate is 6.3 percent.
