Jr. Crickets Dominate State College 14-4

leg-ba-logo2BEECH CREEK – The Beech Creek Junior Crickets defeated State College every time they faced them this season and their game with them Saturday for the league championship would be no different.

The Junior Crickets won 14-4 in five innings at Beech Creek and will move on to the regional playoffs in Scranton. Austyn Carson singled in the run that gave the Crickets the ten-run rule victory.

Landon Breon and Connor Bauman pitched for Beech Creek and combined for seven strike outs and gave up three hits. Brandon Miller made another diving catch in center field in the fifth inning. It was his second such catch in two games.

The big innings for the Crickets offensively were the first and the fifth. In the bottom of the first inning they had four singles and a double to score four runs. Miller, Talon Falls, Wyatt Koch, and Breon scored for the Crickets. In the fifth inning the Crickets scored seven runs. The inning started with Ethan Watkins getting hit by a pitch and ended with Carson’s hit to right field to score a run and end the game. The big hit for the Crickets in the fifth inning came off Miller’s bat as a three-run home run.

Beech Creek’s next action will be in Scranton for the regional playoffs with the date and opponent yet to be determined.
