key-base-logoSOUTH WILLIAMSPORT—There might have been some first inning nerves for the Keystone 10-11 all-team but once the team in blue got untracked, there was no stopping them.

Keystone spotted challenger Loyalsock three first inning runs but scored at least one run in every subsequent inning to win going-away, the final margin 12-3 for the Clinton County club.

The victory earned Keystone a District 12 banner and a postgame celebratory run around Little League’s Volunteer Stadium. It also earned the champs a berth in the Section 3 tournament beginning next Thursday at Bloomsburg.

Keystone struggled defensively in the bottom of the first as ‘Sock used three hits and a couple defensive miscues to score three runs but Keystone pitchers Colton Wagner and Riley Houser held their opponents to four singles and no runs over the final five innings.

Meanwhile Keystone cranked out 14 hits, led by 3-hit performances from Trevor Adair, Nick Long and Brady Williams; Long and Williams each had a double among their hits and shortstop/pitcher Houser (the only girl on the Keystone team) had two doubles and two RBIs.

Bennie Knecht chipped in with two singles and Tyler Confer had a single. Long’s performance included a sacrifice fly and three RBIs in all.

Wagner went the first 3 and 2/3 innings, giving up three runs, one of which was earned. Houser came in and finished up, pitching hitless ball in two and a third innings, striking out four.

Keystone blitzed to the title with three wins, 15-4 over Williamsport, 18-2 over Loyalsock and the championship 12-3 win over the same ‘Sock team.
