Words of Grace – May 15, 2014

WordsOfGraceThe story is told about two ministers who were riding in a cab, heading to the station to catch a train. Concerned about whether they would get there on time, one of them pulled out his pocket watch and discovered that it had stopped.

“How annoying!” he exclaimed. “I had always put much faith in that watch.”

“In a case like this,” the other ministered answered, “good works would evidently have answered the purpose better.”

It has been said that, as long as we have much faith, it doesn’t really matter what we believe. In other words, the fact that we have faith is more important than the object of our faith.

The Lord Jesus taught the twelve disciples that the object of faith is more important than the amount of faith. He once said to them: “Have faith in God” (Mark 11:22). He also said: “If you have faith as a grain of mustard seed” (Matthew 17:20).

That minister who said that he “had always put much faith in that watch” was let down when he realized that it wasn’t working. When our faith is in the Lord., we will never be let down by a God who is able to do all things.

For it is God who is working “both to will and to do of His good pleasure” (Philippians 2:13). And if you “trust and never doubt, He will surely bring you out. “
