Meth Ruvan (‘Methi’) Goonewardene, 15, of 34 Curtis Circle, Mill Hall, passed away on Wednesday evening, April 16, 2014 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, Pa.

He was born on July 22, 1998 in Sri Lanka, darling son of Anura U. Goonewardene and Nishantha de Silva who survive in Mill Hall. Also surviving is his brother, Seth, who he loved so much.

Methi was a special needs student at Mill Hall Elementary under the care of Mr. Mike Burg. He thoroughly enjoyed his school work and time spent with Mr. Burg. Methi touched the lives of everyone who crossed his path in a highly positive way with his ever cheerful smile, trade mark ‘high fives’ to show his happiness and ‘blow kisses’ as his way of expressing love. He freely showed this affection to everyone around him. He relished the company of his family, caregivers, therapists, and nurses. Methi enjoyed looking through books and listening to many different types of music, playing with his toys, and van rides on the highway to see 18 wheeler trucks racing by! He truly brightened everyone around him and showed people how to be happy just by living in the moment and enjoying life in spite of its many challenges.

Anura, Nishantha, and Seth would like to thank all the attending physicians, nursing, and other staff at PICU, Janet Weis Children’s Hospital at Geisinger Medical Center, for their high quality of compassionate, loving care rendered to him on so many different occasions. Methi truly loved them all.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2014 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, Pa 17745.
