Blanchard Woman Charged with Taking $16,000 from Employer

WALKER TOWNSHIP — A Blanchard woman has been arrested and charged with stealing more than $16,000 from her employer.

Billie Jo Weaver, 49, was arraigned this week on theft and related charges filed by Rockview state police, unsecured bail set at $100,000.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by police, Weaver had been a bookkeeper at Ingram’s Fuels since the fall of 2015, responsible for making the business’s bank deposits. Discrepancies were uncovered in May of this year, according to police. At that time, the police report alleges, when confronted Weaver told her employer a deposit that day would be short as she took the money “because she was behind on bills.” Police said that day’s deposit was $4,872 short and their investigation showed $16,914 in all had been taken over a period of time.

Weaver was arraigned before District Judge Kelley Gillette-Walker, charged with theft by unlawful taking, theft by deception and receiving stolen property. A preliminary hearing is set for Aug. 16.
