Keystone 8-10 All-Stars Suffer First Loss to Fairless Hills

MORRISVILLE – The Keystone 8-10 All-Stars suffered their first loss to Section 8 champ, Faireless Hills 9-2 in their first round game at the state tournament.

Keystone scored a single run in the top of the first inning resulting from a walk for Darius Shade, a single from Griffin Kerstetter and a fielder’s choice ground ball from Nolan Cross.

Fairless Hills answered back with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first to take a 2-1 lead.

Fairless Hills kept up the pressure in the bottom of the second inning to extend their lead to 5-1 after holding Keystone at bay in the top of the inning. Fairless hills would also to the lead scoring a single run in the fourth inning and 3 more in the fifth for a 9-1 advantage.

Keystone attempted a last inning rally but only managed a single run in the top of the sixth.

Blake Walker worked a walk then with one out on the board, Hart Fletcher singled a line drive to center field then Watt Probst grounded into a fielder’s choice to score Walker and the final 9-2 outcome.

Jase Seltzer also had 2 hits for Keystone in the game.

Fletcher, Jase Seltzer, Walker and Probst all saw duty on the mound for Keystone. The quartet combined for 11 hits, 2 walks and 4 strikeouts.

Keystone will drop into the lower bracket and face the loser of the St. Marys vs Lower Nazareth first round game tomorrow, Wednesday, July 25 at 10 a.m.
