Senior Crickets Down Clearfield at Regional Tourney

CLEARFIELD — Two battle-tested veterans provided the long ball and Ethan Watkins pitched into the ninth inning as the Beech Creek American Legion senior team won its third straight game at the regional tournament Monday by a 7-4 score over Clearfield. Landon Breon and Brandon Miller both hit homeruns, Breon adding a double, a single and an RBI ground out for a total of five runs batted in while Miller drove in two runs with his homer.
Beech Creek pounded out 11 hits, including a single and double from Talon Falls, two singles from Asher Corl and Evan Prough and a single from Toner Corl. Watkins pitched 8 2/3 innings, giving up eight hits, four runs, only one of them earned. A-J Smith came on in the ninth to record the final out.
The win moved the Crickets (18-2) into a Tuesday winners’ bracket matchup with Claysburg.
