MONTOURSVILLE – Keystone and Loyalsock have been waiting since Wednesday night to see who claim the District 12 Junior Little League crown.

‘Sock forced the ‘if’ game by defeating Keystone 11-9 in the championship final but wet weather and wet fields delayed that meeting until today.

Loyalsock bookended runs in the top of the first and seventh innings to hold a tenuous 2-0 with Keystone coming to bat.

In the bottom of the seventh with one out on the board, Brady Williams led off with a base hit followed by Erik Hoy matching that effort to give Keystone two base runners with no outs. Then Williams and Hoy advanced to third and second, respectively on a wild pitch.

Then Peyton Johnson worked a walk to load the bases. Landyn Carson came to the plate and put the ball in play for a 2 RBI single, scoring that enabled Williams and Hoy to score tying the game at 2-all.

It was Nick Long’s turn at bat and he summarily smacked out a base hit, scoring Johnson for the walk off win.

Williams had a double earlier in the game and Johnson had 2 base hits in earlier action with Greg Walizer also contributing a single in the game.

On the mound, it was Carson going the distance, striking out 3 batters and walking 2 in the effort.

Next up for the Keystone Junior All-Stars will the the Section 3 tournament that will be hosted July 19-22 in District 13 which encompasses, Columbia, Montoursville, Snyder and Northumberland counties.
