State College Edges Jr. Crickets 5-2

BEECH CREEK – The Jr. Crickets lost s closely fought 5-2 battle with State College in Junior Legion Baseball action. The loss moves Beech Creek to 18-3 on the season.

State College scored 1 run in each of the first two inning while keeping Beech Creek in check for a 2-0 lead.

The Jr. Crickets battled back for a run of their own when Rocco Stark had a base hit then stole second base followed by a theft of their base and scored on a State College throwing error.

State College strung together 5 consecutive base hits to score 3 more runs in the top of the sixth inning with Beech Creek adding another run of their own, resulting from a double from Zane Probst and a base hit from Jake Swietzer in the bottom of the inning.

On the mound it was Caleb Shade working the first six innings striking out 3, walking 2 batters and giving up 10 hits. Tom Pringle finished off the game pitching the final inning allowing one hit.

Beech Creek will next host Williamsport for the next round tomorrow July 13, 2017 at 6 p.m.
