Early ‘Sock Lead Too Much for Keystone Junior All-Stars

The Keystone Junior All-Stars took one on the chin from Loyalsock, falling 11-9. ‘Sock opened the game by scoring 10 runs on 4 hits, 4 walks 1 hit batsman a stolen base and 2 Keystone errors. That Loyalsock lead would stand by game’s end but it didn’t deter Keystone from battling back and making a valiant attempt to pull out another win.

Peyton Jonson got the start at pitcher and was on the mound while most of the damage occurred in that first inning. Johnson took that situation personally and led the squad back within reach with by playing solid defense at shortstop and a 3-for-4 effort at the plate for a base hit and 2 triple, the last one scoring 3 runs including himself with the aid of a ‘Sock throwing error. Landyn Carson and Brodie Miller also had base hits in the game.

Miller came in to relieve Johnson late in the first inning and managed to eventually silence the Loyalsock bat and kept that pace for the balance of the game only allowing one more run in the fourth inning.

There was solid defensive play from Brady Williams, Cyrus McCarl, Devin Parker, Storm Long and Eric Hoy. Nick Long and Greg Walizer split duty behind the plate at catcher.

Since this was Keystone’s first loss, they will return to Montoursville tomorrow, July 13, 2017 for a 6 p.m. winner-take-all game with Loyasock for the District 12 title.
