Three Hurt, One Critically in Monday Beech Creek Township Crash

BEECH CREEK TOWNSHIP – State police are asking for public assistance as they investigate a horrific head-on crash at daybreak Monday on Route 150 east of Beech Creek. The collision left a Beech Creek man in critical condition at the Geisinger Trauma Center in Danville, two others escaping with moderate to severe injuries.

Investigating officer Jesse Whitman said the mishap occurred at 5:25 a.m. Monday on Route 150 near Haagen Lane. The report said Spencer Page, 18, of Mill Hall, was south-bound on Route 150 in heavy fog when he attempted to overtake a vehicle in front of him. While traveling in the north-bound lane the Page vehicle struck head-on a northbound vehicle driven by Daniel Burfield, 56, from Beech Creek.

Police said Burfield had to be extricated from his vehicle and was transported by ambulance to Danville. Page and a passenger in his vehicle, Chance Foltz, 22, of Mill Hall, were transported to area facilities for treatment of severe to moderate injuries.

The accident closed Route 150 through 10:30 a.m. Monday. State police are attempting to locate the driver of the vehicle that Page was attempting to pass as part of their continuing investigation. Anyone with information or the driver of the vehicle is asked to contact state police at 570-726-6000.

A state police crash reconstruction unit assisted at the scene, also Beech Creek Fire and EMS, Citizens Hose of Lock Haven and Martin Motors.
