Two Medical Marijuana Licenses Sought Locally; Decision Likely in Two Months

HARRISBURG — The numbers are in from Harrisburg and they show two applications from Clinton County are among 17 applicants seeking a state okay to grow medical marijuana in north-central Pennsylvania.

The state Health Department this week provided an update on the medical marijuana program approved a year ago. The numbers released from Harrisburg show 132 grower applications submitted from across the state. Of the 17 filing to locate in the north-central region, two seek to locate in Clinton County.

Information from the state shows Terrapin Health Care, filing to locate in a former modular home building along Henry Street in South Avis, and Pure Keystone, holder of an option on a vacant plot in the Clinton County Economic Business Park in Lamar Township.

The health department said it is on track to name the successful applicants at the end of June, those selected, the state says, will six months to be deemed “operational” after the award.

All told, 126 applicants applied for medical marijuana dispensary licenses. Six of them are reported in the north-central region; one is to go to Centre County, the other to Lycoming County.
