LOCK HAVEN—If you want to be a participant in the May 16 Pennsylvania primary election, today is the last day to register to vote.

The third floor Garden Building office of Clinton County voter registrar Maria Boileau will be open until 5 p.m.

This year the emphasis is on municipal races and in Clinton County there will be few contested contests in the May primary. An exception is district magistrate; there will be two contested contests and candidates have cross-filed in both of those: Incumbent Joseph V. Sanders III is challenged in the Lock Haven area by Lock Haven police chief Keith Kibler; in the Renovo area sitting district magistrate Frank Mills is being challenged by Eric Ditty.

And there are two contested Keystone Central school board seats. In the Renovo area board president Butch Knauff is challenged by Eric Probert and in Lock Haven’s hill district incumbent Roger Elling is challenged by William Mincer.

Two county row offices are also on the ballot this year, both with incumbents: Repubican Michelle Kunes is seeking re-election as county treasurer; she is unopposed for the GOP nomination in the spring. Current county auditor Michelle Crowell is seeking the Democratic nomination and has no primary opposition. Incumbent coroner Zach Hanna is seeking the Democratic nomination; there are no Republicans who filed to oppose him.
