Wildcats Suffer 9-4 Loss in Home Opener

cm-baseballMILL HALL – It was a tough home opener for Central Mountain as they hosted District 6 rival, Hollidaysburg Wednesday evening.

The Golden Tigers stunned the Wildcats with 4 runs in the first inning and 5 more in the second while holding the hosts scoreless. Hollidaysburg wouldn’t need any more offense and held CM to just 3 runs in the remainder of the game to earn the 9-3 win.

AJ Smith got the call to start on the mound for the Wildcats and just couldn’t find the mix to silence the Hollidaysburg bats. Smith was relieved by Tanner Spangler in the second inning who also faced a tough task but remained on the mound for 3 innings.

Kolton Parker pitched 2 innings and Trevor Hanna threw for another inning for the ‘Cats.

While the Golden Tigers had no issues finding hits, Central Mountain had just the opposite turn of fortune.

Troy Gardner had a pair of singles while Austin Rager and Austyn Carson each had a base hit with Asher Cork stroking out a double in the game.

The loss moves the Wildcats to 0-2 on the season and will next host Shikellamy on Friday, March 31, 2017 for they first Pennsylvania Heartland Conference contest.
