Jay Street/Paul Mack Boulevard Work Starts Next Monday

Water to Main

LOCK HAVEN – Monday, April 3 will mark the start of an extended reconstruction project along Jay Street and Paul Mack Boulevard in Lock Haven. Detours for the Jay Street work will be in effect beginning on Monday. The improvement project in its entirety is expected to last into November.

Clinton County Tourism Director Julie Brennan provided an update at the Tuesday night meeting of the Clinton County Economic Partnership. She provided this preliminary information today to therecord.online, noting that a formal announcement from PennDOT is expected soon:

“Many of you may have noticed preliminary activities over the past few weeks, but the work begins in earnest on Monday when contractor Glenn O. Hawbaker will close Jay Street between Water and Main Streets. A detour — down Church Street to Henderson Street, up Water Street and over to Vesper Street) will be in effect. The same detour will be in effect when the second block of Jay Street (between Main and Church Streets) is closed.

“The phases of the downtown portion of this project are:
– Jay Street from Water to Main Street closed approximately 3 weeks (April 3 – April 24)
– Jay Street from Main to Church Street closed approximately 3 weeks (April 24 – May 12)
– Four-way intersection at Water and Jay Streets closed June 5-9 (this will involve closure of Veterans Bridge and a detour will route traffic along Route 150 to Dunnstown and down Mill Hill Road)

“There will likely be work taking place along Paul Mack Boulevard concurrently with the downtown work. No detours will be required with the Paul Mack Boulevard work; instead, traffic there will be reduced to a single lane.”

Brennan said the Partnership has worked with PennDOT to provide advance communication with community and business leaders regarding the reconstruction project. Glenn O. Hawbaker is the contractor for the $5.4 million project.
