McElhatten Area Bridge Work Starts Wednesday as part of Route 220 Job

Bridge workMcELHATTEN – Repair work will begin Wednesday on a Route 220 bridge near McElhatten, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT).

As of Wednesday, crews will be working on substructure repairs on the Route 220 bridge that spans the railroad and Wayne Township landfill, near the Wayne/Pine Creek Township line north of the McElhatten interchange. This work will require a closure of the left, southbound lane during daylight hours.

Work is anticipated to last about two weeks. PennDOT reminds drivers to remain alert for the daylight lane closure as they approach the work zone.

These bridge repairs are part of PennDOT’s mainline project on Route 220, which wrapped up in fall of 2015. Mainline work addressed improvements to 7.5 miles of roadway to enhance the ride quality of the roadway surface and extend the useful life of the pavement. The work was made possible by Act 89.
HRI, Inc. of State College has been the contractor on this $17.3 million project.
