LOCK HAVEN – The construction phase of the Renovo Energy Center’s natural gas to electricity plant has been delayed, pushed back to spring of 2018, based on word relayed today by the Clinton County Economic Partnership.

Partnership chief operating officer Mike Flanagan relayed the announcement from the REC”

“Renovo Energy Center officials informed the Clinton County Economic Partnership on March 23, 2017 that it will not meet the TENTATIVE timeframe for the planned power plant project that was laid out in October 2016. Due to several outstanding matters, including working with the interconnect systems, the project’s new TENTATIVE date for construction is now approximately one year from now (April 2018).”

Flanagan further commented:

“Renovo Energy Center officials made it clear to us that they remain bullish on the project. They are finishing up their major permits . They will wait on the financing part of the project until the interconnect is clearly understood and its associated costs. This process might take months. REC, along with the Partnership, have nothing but praise for the state and local officials working hard on this project. It’s an involved and complicated project and it is going to take some more time. We appreciate Bechtel’s investment in the greater Renovo area.”

The earlier project timetable had demolition of the rail yards set for this spring, construction of the $800 million project to start later this year.
