Central Mountain’s Turner Takes First Bout at States

HERSHEY — Senior Caleb Turner opened up his first appearance at the PIAA wrestling tournament with a 5-1 preliminary round win over Tyler Neglia, a sophomore from Wallenpaupack High School.

Turner used takedowns in periods two and three and an escape to move to 35-9 on the year and into the next round. There he will face South Central champion Drew Peck (31-4), a senior from Chambersburg.

Next up for the Wildcats will be senior Geo Barzona (37-3) at 113 pounds, going against Northeast runner-up Cameron Enriquez (31-2), a sophomore from Stroudsburg. After Turner’s second match later this evening heavyweight Richie Thompson (33-11) will tangle with South Central runner-up Cameron Tinner (36-2), a senior from Shippensburg.
