Loyalsock stuns ‘Cats 52-44 in PHAC Playoff

cm-basketballSUNBURY – The Wildcats boys’ basketball team’s quest for a Pennsylvania Heartland Conference came to an end tonight as the fell to Loyalsock 52-44.

‘Sock jumped out to a stunning 14-2 lead in the first quarter creating a large deficit for Central Mountain (15-8) to overcome. Central Mountain seemed to get their offense back on track in the second quarter, the Lancers still prevailed, outpacing the ‘Cats 15-11 for a 29-13 lead at the half.

The Wildcats managed to close the gap a little in the third quarter outpacing Loyalsock 17-12 but still trailed 41-30 with only 8 minutes remaining. The Wildcats kept up the pressure in fourth quarter outscoring the Lancers 14-11 but the difference was too great to overcome with Loyalsock sealing the win, 52-44.

Three ‘Cats broke double figures on the night with Kyle Everhart and Brody Baker each knocking down 11 points and Matt Storeman scoring 10 more. Justin Neff and Wyatt Bumbarger both scored 6 points on the night.

Next, Central Mountain will host Bellefonte in a District 6 5A first round playoff game on Monday, Feb. 20, 2016.
