Warriors Edge Wildcats, 60-59

cm-basketballMONTOURSVILLLE—The Central Mountain boys’ basketball team picked a bad time to pick up a couple road losses.

Monday night saw the Wildcats lose a 10-point lead after three periods and ultimately lose the game to the Warriors, the final 60-59. Central Mountain had a chance to tie with two seconds to go; senior Justin Neff hit the first of two foul shots to make it 60-59 Montour, but missed the second and Montour picked up the win.

The victory left the Warriors at 9-10, Central Mountain falling to 13-6 after suffering its third loss in the last four games. Monday’s defeat and a 54-46 loss at Shamokin (6-13) on Saturday ended any Wildcat hopes of earning the team’s first Heartland Conference title.

Brody Baker paced the ‘Cats at Montour with 17 points, followed by Kyle Everhart with 15, Neff finishing with 8. Other point producers were Wyatt Bumbarger, 6; Trevor Hanna, 5; MattStoreman, 4; Collin Jones, 2; and Nick Carpenetti, 2.

Central Mountain will observe Senior Night this Wednesday, hosting Shikellamy (9-9) and finish up the regular season with a Friday night trip to Huntingdon (13-7). The Wildcats will then be off until the District 6 Class 5A playoffs scheduled for the week of Feb. 20.
