Kurt D. O’Brien – Obituary

Kurt D. O’Brien, Sr., 65, of Westport died Monday, January 23, 2017 at his residence.

He was born in Saint Mary’s, PA on Jan. 2, 1952 a son of the late Wendell G. and Doris M. (Vogt) O’Brien.

Kurt worked as a die setter for Pennsylvania Pressed Metals, Inc. in Emporium. He enjoyed gardening, baking, cooking, hunting and fishing. He was a member of the National Rifle Association.

Surviving are two sons, Kurt D. O’Brien, Jr., and Wendell O’Brien also a daughter Gayle Heagey and three grandchildren Brandon, Bryce and Wendell.

Three brothers, Francis (Grace) O’Brien of Farwell, Brian O’Brien and Robin (Joyce) O’Brien both of Westport.

Four sisters Mary Ann (Rich) Mason of Renovo, Kathye Lane of Sterling Run, Pat Martin of Emporium and Mary George (Ken) Rhone of Farwell.

He was preceded in death by two brothers Grey O’Brien and Jim Shields a niece Colleen O’Brien also a nephew Mike O’Brien and a granddaughter Leona O’Brien.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 26, 2017 at the Maxwell Funeral Home, 205 Fifth St, Renovo with the Rev. Donald Dusza officiating. Friends and relatives will be received one hour prior to the service.

Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Hyner.
