LOCK HAVEN—For the second year in a row, Lock Haven real estate taxes should remain unchanged in 2017.

City Manager Rich Marcinkevage a week ago presented city council with a recommended budget for the new year. It amounts to $11.14 million and proposes to keep real estate taxes and water and sewer rates unchanged in the new year.

A public hearing on the budget proposal will be part of tonight’s 7 o’clock council meeting. The city plans two work sessions with city staff in December and a public hearing Dec. 19 for final adoption.

If approved by council 2017 will be the second year in a row without a tax hike in the city. This year was the first in five years council did not boost the property tax. The four year run of tax hikes topped out at 14.6 percent for 2015. At the time the city said that jump should preclude the need for any increases over the next several years.
