Words of Grace – Nov. 10, 2016

WordsOfGraceJeremiah is known as the weeping prophet. He wept because God’s chosen people were in captivity. In one of his sermons he said the following:

“But if you will not hear it, my soul shall weep in secret places for your pride; and my eyes shall weep sore, and run down with tears, because the Lord’s flock is carried away captive “ (Jeremiah 13:17).

The Lamentations of Jeremiah is a book revealing the sorrow of God’s heart reflected in the heart of the prophet. “It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, “Jeremiah wrote, “because his compassions fail not” (3:22).

His compassions do not fail because the Lord never fails, as Moses said to Israel: “For the Lord your God goes with you. He will not fail you, nor forsake you. “(Deuteronomy 31:6).

“I will be with you,” the Lord promised Joshua: “I will not fail you nor forsake you” (Joshua 1:5).

It is not known who wrote the following lines about the one who never fails:

“Along life’s road I’ll fear no ill, for Christ my Lord is with me still. He never faileth! He never will! He will faileth not!

He has not failed me in the past. He will not fail while life shall last. For wheresoever my lost be cast, He faileth not!”
