Bulldogs, Raiders Enter District Football Playoffs

FootballFeatureLOCK HAVEN — Central Mountain won’t be part of the PIAA playoffs beginning on Friday but a remarkable eight Wildcat opponents from the just completed regular season will be in action. They include two neighboring schools, Jersey Shore and Bellefonte.

The Bulldogs (7-3) are coming off a 14-10 win over the Wildcats last Friday. Jersey Shore earned the No. 1 seed in the District 4 AAAA playoffs and will host a semifinal game against No. 4 seed Athens (7-3). The two teams did not meet in the regular season.

Bellefonte (5-5) is a No. 4 in the District 6/9 AAAA playoffs and travel to Clearfield (9-1) for a rematch with the Bison. Clearfield downed the Raiders by a 28-0 score on Sept. 28. Both schools were on the Central Mountain schedule, the Wildcats edging Bellefonte but falling to Clearfield.

Two regular season opponents for both Jersey Shore and Central Mountain will meet in the second District 4 AAAA semifinal, No. 3 seed Shikellamy (6-4) at No. 2 Selinsgrove (7-3). Shik beat the Seals 21-14 in the regular season.

Other Wildcat foe pairings include:

Williamsport (9-1) hosting Hazleton (3-7) in a first round District2/4 AAAAAA pairing; Hollidaysburg (6-4) with a first round bye in the District 6/10 AAAAA bracket; and Hughesville (5-5) in a District 4 AA contest at Wellsboro (10-0).

All games are set for Friday night with a 7 p.m. kickoff.
