UPDATE – Robert William Riddles will be laid to rest with his beloved son, Matthew Robert Riddles on Saturday Oct. 29, 2016 at St. Joesph’s Cemetery in Hyner, PA with full Military Honors performed by the American Legion Post 442 Honor Guard and Officers. The public Memorial service will begin at 1:00 pm officiated by Reverend Donald Dusza with the Lodge of Sorrow provided by the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks.

 

WALTERBORO, SC – Mr. Robert William Riddles, age 68, entered into rest Monday morning, October 3, 2016, while surrounded by his loving family in his home on Prices Bridge Lane near Walterboro.

A memorial prayer service will be conducted 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, October 5, 2016, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro.  The Reverend Fr. Antony Benjamine, Celebrant.  The family will receive friends following the service at the mortuary.

Interment will be held in Saint Joseph’s Cemetery, Renovo, Pennsylvania.

Born December 15, 1947 in Renovo, Pennsylvania, he was a son of the late Richard LaRue Riddles and the late Mary Elizabeth Kennedy Riddles.  He served our country faithfully in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era and retired as an Administrative Clerk from Consolidated Gas in Renovo, Pennsylvania.  He was raised in the family faith as a Roman Catholic, having been in Saint Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Renovo, Pennsylvania.  Also, in Renovo, he was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks No. 334, where he served upon the Board of Trustees and was also a member of The American Legion – Post No. 442.   He moved to the Lowcountry of South Carolina in 2012. He was an outdoorsman and possessed a true love for fishing and making wood furniture.  He also enjoyed vintage cars.

Surviving are: two sons, Timothy James Riddles of Picture Rocks, Pennsylvania and Robert Daniel Riddles of Lock Haven, Pennsylvania; his fiancé, Debra N. Dangerfield and her daughter Ashely Dangerfield of Walterboro; a step-daughter, Christine Marie Prebble of Renovo, Pennsylvania; and a brother, Richard E. Riddles and his wife Loretta of Sicklerville, New Jersey.  There are five grandchildren, Ryan Prebble, Troy Prebble, Kori Prebble, Sydney Nicole Riddles, and Emily Elizabeth Riddles; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins that also survive.  He was preceded in death by a son, Matthew Robert Riddles.
