BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP — Today was the first day for fall practice at PIAA schools across the state.

First-year Central Mountain head coach Jim Renninger welcomed some 74 players from grades nine through 12 to Malinak Stadium.

With teams this year allowed to open their season one week earlier than in previous years, Central Mountain and Bucktail High Schools will have one less week to prep for the start of the regular season. In fact Bucktail and Central Mountain will have a joint first football scrimmage with Bald Eagle Area at the Wildcats’ Malinak Stadium on Saturday at 10 a.m.

Both teams open their regular season a week earlier this year, Central Mountain at Williamsport Friday, Aug. 28, Bucktail hosting Troy on the same date at Dwyer Memorial Field.
