Keystone Prevails in Battle of Titans 8-6 over Montoursville

WILLIAMSPORT – It certainly wasn’t easy for the Keystone Major team in the 2-hour nightcap edition of a Keystone double header at Volunteer Stadium. Keystone jumped on top with three runs in the top of the first, the big hit an RBI triple from Cy Probst; he then scored on a groundout from Brady Bendik.

Keystone would add a run in the top of the third on a line drive homerun from winning pitcher Kaden Falls and another in the fourth on a homerun from Aaron Miller. Meanwhile Montoursville got back in the game with a 4-spot in the bottom of the third, the big hit a homerun from Maddux Dalena. Miller’s fourth inning homer regained the lead for Keystone at 5-4 in the top of the fourth.

Keystone plated three key insurance runs in the top of the fifth, using a double from Blade Myers; a walk to Falls, and a 2-RBI double from Probst followed by an RBI single from Bendick.

Those runs would prove necessary as Montoursville battled back, scoring one in the fifth to make it 8-5 Keystone, Probst on relief of starter Falls, getting a bases-loaded strikeout to end the Montour threat.

Montoursville would get its final run in the bottom of the sixth, using a double and an infield error for an unearned run. But with one on, two out and the tying run at the plate Probst fanned Ryan Kennell to nail down the save in relief of Falls.

Falls and Probst combined for a 5-hitter with14 strikeouts. Meanwhile the Keystone batters played long-ball against two Montoursville pitchers. Keystone finished with nine hits, the first seven of which were all for extra bases. Probst had a career night, 3-for-3 with two triples, a double and three RBIs. Miller finished with a homerun, triple and single. Other Keystone hits included the double from Myers, Falls’ homerun and Bendik’s single and two RBIs.
