Chubby Kid Runnin’

LOCK HAVEN – A classic power trio, Chubby Kid Runnin’, combines a rock stage show with late 70’s and 80’s classic rock favorites. Lenny Weber, vocalist and guitarist, and Troy Lamey, drummer and vocalist, both formerly of “Romeo”, share the stage with Lynnette Sauers, bassist and vocalist.  The band creates a sing-a-long and dance floor atmosphere. As former members of “Romeo”, Weber and Lamey rocked the Boat Regatta in Lock Haven several times; however, they are looking forward to their first performance on the floating stage.  They’ll be bringing their “Juliet” to this performance at the J. Doyle Corman Amphitheater in Lock Haven.

Classic Rock Revival

As KISS sang it in the 70’s… “Its cold gin time again.” After almost 45 years together and close to 20 on the floating stage…this bunch of hooligans are still alive and kickin!

The original idea of Classic Rock Revival was a melting pot of area musicians playing good old Rock n Roll. This year’s lineup brings the boys of Stonehenge back together again one more time! Due to health reasons our drummer, Pat Leone, will be turning the sticks over to veteran drummer Mike Romansky, and a kick butt set will be on tap for Sunday night.

Come join Phil Reeder, Wally Grier, and Steve Linn and help celebrate the holiday with the Best of Classic Rock!

The Deacons of Dixieland Featured at Triangle Park

The Deacons of Dixieland is an 8-piece traditional jazz band from Central Pennsylvania. They have been supplying lively entertainment for concerts, festivals, parks, retirement homes, clubs, and tailgate parties at Penn State football games since 1988. The band was formed as a Christian music ministry in 1988 by recently deceased trumpeter and leader, John Kepler. The Deacons continue to play frequent hymn tunes in a dixieland style, as well as classic dixieland selections, blues, and Country music in a dixieland style.

The Deacons were formed by John Kepler in 1988 in State College, Pennsylvania to play Dixieland as a Christian music ministry. “Bill Bailey,” “Sweet Georgia Brown,” and “When The Saints Go Marching In” are a few of their standards. They also play hymns, blues, waltzes, polkas, and even a few Country tunes- in a happy Dixieland style.

The Deacons have played in New Orleans at Fritzel’s Tavern on Bourbon Street, the Cafe Pontchatrane, the Cafe Brazil, the Tin Roof Cafe, and at Preservation Hall, where in January, 2001 they opened for the nationally renowned Preservation Hall Jazz band. The band has played for several years at the W.C. Handy Music Festival in Florence, Alabama. They have also played at the James Street Cafe in Pittsburgh and at the Hilton Hotel in Harrisburg. Some of their Central Pennsylvania engagements include: The Second Mile, Senior Games, Hope for Kids, Lemont Strawberry Festival, Beaver Stadium’s July 4th Fireworks Celebration, People’s Choice Festival, and the Centre County Grange Fair. Additionally, they have played at nursing homes, retirement centers, political rallies, funerals, and weddings. The Deacons have entertained for many years at Penn State tailgate parties – both public and private – including a very successful series of three-hour performances outside the Bryce Jordan Center prior to home football games. The Deacons frequently include special vocalists and instrumentalists, including former Penn State President Graham Spanier playing his self-customized turbo washboard.

Band members include: Ray Dillon,  Marty Gillespie, Bill Kawa, Mike Loewen, Phil Ponish, Phil Reeder, Jim Ressler, and Graham Spanier. To learn more about the Deacons of Dixieland, check out their website at  www.deaconsofdixieland.org or visit them on Facebook.
