LOCK HAVEN — A City of Lock Haven work crew (Jarred Smith in the bucket, Jesse Orndorf on the roof) today put the finishing touches on a new sign proclaiming the start of the city’s summer concert series tonight. The 18th annual run of free concerts begins when Biscuit Jam performs at Triangle Park at 6 p.m. And while 13 concerts will be staged as usual on Fridays at Triangle Park, for the first time the Corman Amphitheater portion of the free concert schedule will be divided between Sunday and Saturday evenings.
The city’s concert series committee over the winter decided to divide the Corman floating stage concerts into two different evenings: the June and July concerts on Sundays starting at 6:30 p.m. as in the past. But because of increasing darkness later in the season, it was decided to move the August concerts to a Saturday schedule with an earlier 5 p.m. start time.
The first riverside floating stage concert will be Sunday, June 19 with the Justin Fabus Band. The first Saturday floating stage concert will be Saturday, August 6 featuring Banned Together. Once again this season there will be 24 concerts in all, the 13 at Triangle Park, 11 along the river.
This evening’s Triangle Park opening show Biscuit Jam performs unique acoustic interpretations of classic rock favorites as well as traditional folk songs and Americana-flavored original compositions. The concert begins at 6 p.m.
The Record and therecord-online will continue to again provide financial support for the 2016 Summer Concert Series.
