Seven Wildcats are Heartland All-Stars for 2016

cm-baseballBALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – Central Mountain baseball received high accolades this week with nearly a full starting lineup making the Pennsylvania Heartland Athletic Conference (Div. I) all-star list.

The group is senior laden with Talon Falls, Alex Garbrick, Isaac Porter, Wyatt Koch and Toner Corl leading the way. Garbrick had the extended honor of being elected for two positions on the list, pitching and infield. Underclassmen also represented CM baseball well with junior Brandon Miller and sophomore Asher Corl making the list.

Alex Garbrick

Alex Garbrick is listed as a first team PHAC (Div. I) all-star for both pitching and as an infielder. Garbrick has preformed extremely well this season with a 6-1 record on the mound that includes 3 no-hitters and a shutout this season with an astonishing 0.69 ERA thus far.

When Garbrick is not pitching, he contributes at shortstop where he has built a .912 fielding percentage, turning 3 double plays on the year with only 5 errors.

Garbrick has also done well offensively .339 for 21 hits, 11 RBI and was successful stealing 13 bases in 15 attempts.

Talon Falls

Talon Falls was rock solid at third base for his senior season for the the ‘Cats to earn him first team PHAC (Div. I) honors. Falls had a .837 fielding percentage while recording 27 hits snd 23 RBI including 3 triples so far with a .375 batting average. Falls was also 4-4 on stolen bases this year.

Isaac Porter
Isaac Porter

Isaac Porter has shown excellent senior leadership as a catcher for the Wildcats this season which earned him PHAC (Div. I) first team all-star recognition.

Porter had a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage so far in 2016 with only 4 passed balls and a 4-7 record for picking of base runners attempting to steal second base.

Offensively Porter has contributed 19 hits including four doubles and 11 RBI for a .339 average.

Wyatt Koch

Wyatt Koch, another senior with strong contributions for CM was selected a PHAC (Div. I) all-star for the DH/Utility player slot. Koch, who split duty behind the plate with Porter this season, earned a .980 fielding percentage with only a single error to his credit and was 1-1 throwing down base runners.

Koch batted .322 for 19 hits and 15 RBI and was 2-2 stealing bases this season.

Toner Corl
Toner Corl

Toner Corl, another Wildcat senior, was named to the PHAC (Div. I) second team all-stars as an infielder for his steady work on the field this season. Corl split duty with Garbrick at shortstop and was the leadoff batter in the staring lineup for the ‘Cats.

Defensively, Corl had a .944 fielding percentage with only 3 errors on the year and one double play to his credit. When he wasn’t working the infield, Corl shared duty on the mound for the Wildcats winning all five of his starts earning a 1.49 ERA for his efforts.

In the batter’s box, Corl pounded out a .339 average for 20 hits 13 RBI that included 7 doubles and triple.

Brandon Miller
Brandon Miller

Junior, Brandon Miller, received second team PHAC (Div. I) all-star honors for his contributions as an outfielder. With no fence at the home Mill Hall Community Park complex, Miller and his fellow outfielders have a lot of real estate to cover. The task doesn’t seem intimidate Miller as he has earned a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage so far in 2016.

Miller has a .289 batting average 13 hits, 5 RBI with 4 doubles and 2 triples to his credit and was 4-4 on stolen base attempts.

Asher Corl
Asher Corl

Asher Corl, a sophomore for Central Mountain, stood tall in right field earning him PHAC (Div. I) first team all-star status.

Corl also accumulated a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage this season. Offensively, Corl 19 hits, 19 RBI with 4 doubles to his credit compiling a .388 average.
