LOCK HAVEN – Two major city demolition projects are part of Lock Haven’s May landscape: one on Bellefonte Avenue for a new drug store, the other on the Lock Haven University main campus for expansion of the school’s green space.

A contractor started today to knock down the old DrivePlus portion of the MacIntyre/Lock Haven Laundry site for the new CVS pharmacy at 309-315 Bellefonte Avenue. The Camp Hill developer had promised an expedited demolition after final sale approvals came last month. The new pharmacy/store is scheduled for a late fall completion date.

And preparation work is underway for demolition of Sullivan Hall on the LHU campus. An onsite official said the actual demolition should begin next week, a final interior gutting of the school’s former administration building is being conducted. Clearing away Sullivan Hall is phase two of the school’s University Commons project designed to create a green space for student enjoyment; the Sullivan work will make way for an amphitheater. Phase one saw last year’s demolition of Russell Hall.
