RENOVO – Let’s get this party started!  Do you love this town as much as we do?  Then come and join us as we “Follow the River” in song, celebration and memories May 1, 2016, for our Renovo Community Choir Concert 3 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Church.  Under the leadership of Patricia Lacy, director, and Martena Rogers, accompanist, we will kick off the 150th birthday year of this great community.

We begin with a selection by Joseph Martin, “Follow the River”, followed by three favorites that highlight the reason so many settled in this area – “Hurling Down the Pines”, “Sixteen Tons” and “On the Railroad”.  We’ll honor those who served in the armed forces from our area with “Keep the Home Fires Burning”, and we will pay tribute to the years that the Flaming Foliage Festival and the hard working committees have brought tourists, friends and families back to our town with “Autumn Leaves”.  The first part of our concert will close with “As Long As I Have Music” – a recognition of our community choir members who are no longer with us.

Continuing with the river theme we will start the second part of our afternoon with a song written for Renovo by Tony Gughiocello, “Home by the Susquehanna”.

Journeying through the years we will be singing two medleys  including:  “Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree”, “I’ll Never Smile Again”, “It’s Been a Long, Long Time”, “Moments to Remember” and “Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In”.

Thanking our past and present hard working community members with “Everyday Heroes”, and reminding each of us that ‘there’s no place like home’ we will sing a Jay Althouse number, “My Home Town”.

The choir concludes our afternoon with a song by Don Besig and Nancy Price honoring our community, “A Place in the Valley”.

A highlight of the afternoon will be the visual presentation created by Rich Wykoff and crew.  See you there!
