FARWELL – May 18 will see the end of an era. That’s the date for the last concert by Karen Neff, Bucktail Area High School’s long-time band and chorus director. Ms. Neff has been at Bucktail since 1999.

There have been many changes to the program since her arrival, notably the reestablishment of the high school chorus. Both the band and chorus has had participants in the Pennsylvania Music Educator’s Association’s district and regional festivals. Bucktail, along with Sugar Valley Rural Charter School has also hosted a district band festival and last year, the regional chorus festival, which involved over 50 schools from 11 counties in central Pennsylvania. Ms. Neff twice served as host for Sixth Grade Band Fest, bringing 150 students to the gym at Bucktail Area High School for a full day of music making.

In honor of her last performance as director Ms. Neff is inviting any and all her former students to participate with either or both the band and chorus on their final numbers, both of which were composed and arranged for the occasion by her husband, Ned Wetherald who is Director of Music Ministry at State College Presbyterian Church.

If you would like to participate in this concert, please contact Ms. Neff at Bucktail Area High School, or stop by the school to pick up a copy of the music.
