LOCK HAVEN – First Quality today announced it will donate $250,000 over the next five years to the Lock Haven University Foundation. A company announcement said, “First Quality’s commitment to supporting academics is of high importance to the Organization and is one of its strongest ideals.

“First Quality is excited to extend this donation to assist with furthering education and strengthen our bond with the local communities around us.”

First Quality’s first production facility started in Clinton County a quarter century ago at what is now the Harold Sweeney Industrial Park in Wayne Township. The company has a workforce of 1,650 employees at its Wayne Township and Castanea Township facilities and a total of 4,000 employees across the country.

First Quality has announced plans to add a third tissue-making machine at its Castanea location. That project is to begin sometime this summer or fall and add another 184 jobs locally, part of a $300 million expansion first announced in December of 2014.

Lock Haven University is a member of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. LHU is an accredited four-year institution that offers 60 undergraduate and certificate programs, 40 minors and 7 graduate programs.
