Reward Offered to Solve Theft

RENOVO — Two intruders broke into the Puff-n-Snuff store on Erie Avenue in Renovo early today and made off with some 30 to 40 cartons of cigarettes.

Company official Joe VanGorder said the break-in was captured on a video surveillance camera and Renovo police are investigating. The two gained entry by smashing out a large plate glass window and going inside. Once there they loaded up the cigarettes and left through the same window, running across the adjacent Norfolk Southern railroad tracks to the old rail yard site.

VanGorder and his brother Chad are offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the burglars. He said anyone with information should call the Puff-n-Snuff office in Dunnstsown at 570-893-0459.

VanGorder said the break-in is the first at the company’s 700 Erie Avenue address but a similar burglary occurred several years ago at a prior location in Renovo. Today’s entry took place sometime between 4 and 4:30 a.m.
