Willis F. Swope – Obituary

ObitArtWillis F. Swope, 81, of Lock Haven passed away Thursday, January 21, 2016 at his home.

Born in Broadtop City on November 29, 1934, he was the son of the late Algernon S. and Orfa B. Reed Swope.

On March 14, 1953 his married the love of his life, the former S. Ruth Walch who survives.

Willis was employed by L.W. Peters as an equipment operator.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Lock Haven where he volunteered doing building maintenance.

Willis also volunteered at Susque View Home for 23 years.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

In addition to his wife, Ruth Swope of Lock Haven, he is survived by three sons: Willis “Joe” Swope, Jr. of Lock Haven, Rodney (Tina) Swope of Castanea, and Dave Swope of Lock Haven; a daughter, Nancy Shadle of Lock Haven; 11 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and a great, great granddaughter.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Guy Swope and a grandson, Brian Hill.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Moriarty Funeral Home & Crematory, 112 E. Church St., Lock Haven.
