Christmas Concert Sunday, Dec. 6 …

The holiday season is officially underway. The Renovo Area Community Choir will hold its annual Christmas Concert this coming Sunday at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Church. Everyone is welcome to come out and hear beautiful happy music for the season. The community choir has been busy practicing for the concert in recent weeks, hoping the church will be filled to enjoy the music.

Santa’s back in town …

There wasn’t the usual Santa arrival parade in Renovo this year as far as I know, but Santa has been in Renovo for his annual visits with area children. And he’s been listening to many youngsters I’m told, at his December Renovo home, the Santa Hut at the Flaming Foliage lot and the Renovo Visitor’s Center. I’m not sure how he arrived but I’m hearing there was concern that the current road construction in the borough would make travel and parade marching on borough streets difficult. Youngsters need not fear, Santa will make it through Renovo on Christmas. If there’s snow, you might even hear his sleigh bells.

Rumor has it …

Rumor has it, not even a tiny clue if it’s true, but the rumor continues that the former Weis store property has been sold. While rumors abound about the sale, I’ve not a clue about the who – the buy is. The latest I’ve heard is that it’s a developer. The rumors I heard previously have been ruled out, so it’s still a guessing game about what is next for the property.

Buck hunters in luck, Bud stayed home …

Area buck hunters said were in luck this week. Farwell bear hunter Bud Hallberg said bear season was enough; he wasn’t going out for buck this year. Besides his friends say he has enough stories about bear hunting to last a dozen hunting seasons.

The boom has yet to come …

Rumor has it that the gas well boom has yet to come in this area. Although there is little going on with well drilling currently, the rumors are that after the Marcellus shale gas is done, the Utica layer of fuel will be more beneficial to this area. But don’t hold your breath – it could be decades and decades before the need to drill that deep arrives.

Shopping the bazaars …

Holiday shoppers have a choice of events coming up to find gifts right here in Western Clinton County. This Saturday there will be a bazaar at the Chapman Fire Hall Saturday and the Zion’s Luthern Church from 12 to 5. Next Saturday a similar craft show and bazaar event will be held at the South Renovo Fire all from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. There will be food available at all the events.
