Paul Guizar, Jr. – Obituary

Paul Guizar, Jr., 79, of Hyner died Thursday, November 12, 2015 at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Altoona. He was also a patient at the Altoona VA hospital for the past six years.

He was born May 5, 1936 in Lamar Twp. a son of the late Annabelle (Wetzel) Guizar.

Paul was married on June 22, 1996 to the former Janet S. Hines. They celebrated 19 years of marriage together.

He served in the Marines during the Korean Conflict and also the Vietnam War where he received a Purple Heart.

Paul was a member of the VFW and the Marine Corps League where he volunteered for Toys for Tots.

He retired from the Marines after 21 years and was a greeter at Wal-Mart in Mill Hall.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife; two sons Larry Guizar and Craig Guizar both of TX., One daughter Leigh (Cliff) Garman of North Bend and two stepdaughters Margaret (Ed) Mann of York and Tammy (Randy) Weaver of Beech Creek.

Nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Two brothers Richard (Mary) Guizar of VA and Ronald Guizar of AL and a sister Audrey Miller of Lakeland, FL.

Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 21, 2015 at the Maxwell Funeral Home, 205 Fifth Street, Renovo.

Friends and relatives will be received from 10:30 – 11:00 a.m.

Interment will be private.
