STATE COLLEGE – The Lady Wildcats fought valiantly but came up short losing in straight games 3-0 to No. 1 seed State College in the first round of the District 6 AAA volleyball tournament.
Although Central Mountain entered the contest unintimidated and battled to the very last point, State High’s precision and depth was just too much for the Lady ‘Cats.
In the first two games, CM hung with the Lady Little Lions 7-6 in Game 1 at one point and only trailing 8-5 in the early going of Game 2. In both of those matches, once State College hit double-digits, they pulled ahead easily dominating 25-11 and 25-10 respectively.
In the final game it was more of the same with State College and CM holding a little closer in the early going, then the Lady Little lions picked up great momentum rolling to a 25-7 runaway win to advance to the finals this Wednesday in Tyrone.
Though, the Lady Wildcats didn’t score many points in the final game, they went down swinging with their five senior starters and several talented underclassmen refusing to concede the win until the final point.
