William J. Mazzulla – Obituary

William “Bill” J. Mazzulla

On Sunday, September 6th, surrounded by his loving family, William “Bill” J. Mazzulla went home to his eternal resting place. His final moments were very peaceful with prayer, beautiful music and expressions of love.

Born in Renovo, he was the son of the late Thomas S. and Concetta (Dejesse) Mazzulla. Bill was a graduate of Renovo High School.

Bill was charismatic, sharp-witted and fearless. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force after his eldest brother was killed in the Korean War. After the service he quickly rose to management positions with Singer, and later Firestone. Feeling the entrepreneurial spirit, he went into real estate in 1974 and owned and operated Mazzulla Real Estate for 17 years.

Bill had many passions in life. His biggest love was playing golf. He was an original member of the “Plumbers” Golf Group at White Deer Golf Course and had enjoyed his friendship with his golf and poker buddies for many years. He also loved fishing. Bill was a big fan of the Shula-era Dolphins and later the Pittsburgh Steelers. He had a generous spirit and loved giving gifts, especially to family.

Bill served on the board of directors for West Branch Valley Association of Realtors for six years where he was president for two years. He was affiliated with the Lycoming County United Way for nine years, on the Board of Directors for six years, and served one year as President and two terms as Campaign Chairman. Bill was a member of the Lycoming County Unit of the American Cancer Society for three years and served as Crusade Chairman for one year. He was also a member of Lycoming County Recreation Authority for nine years and served two terms as President. He served on the faculty of Penn State continuing education as a Real Estate Instructor from 1987 until 2004.

Bill was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church.

Surviving are his children, Victoria L. (Gerard) Fischer, of Williamsport, David A. Mazzulla, of Washington DC, and William J. Mazzulla, of Virginia Beach, two grandchildren, Brian and Kyle Fischer, both of Williamsport, siblings, Rita L. Tomko, of South Renovo, Eugene J. (Aida) of Schwenksville, Thomas A. ( Wanda) of Renovo, John C. (Linda) of Kane, and Francis D. of Orlando, FL.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Thomas Mazzulla.

A Mass of Christian Burial to honor the life of Bill was celebrated 9:30 a.m. Thursday September 10, 2015 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, 326 Washington Boulevard, Williamsport. Burial was in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Renovo. A visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday September 9th at St. Boniface Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Bill’s name to American Heart Association, 968 Postal Road, Suite 110, Allentown, PA 18109.
