Ripley’s Believe it or not …

The work continues at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Renovo where a new roof is being installed. The church is widely known because as one of the largest and perhaps the largest structure without supporting beams. I’m told the church is mentioned in Ripley’s Believe It or Not for that reason. I was also told Renovo is in Ripley’s because Renovo is not an island yet you cannot get into or out of the town without crossing a bridge.

Long-time Reader …

The Record has received a letter from Dolores O’Connor of Primos, PA, a long time reader of The Record who is 100 years old and still reading the paper. Dolores writes: “I remember the song from years back and it was a great song. I was born and raised in Farwell and Renovo and there will never be a place like all of its beautiful surroundings. It brings back memories. I have been a subscriber to The Record for many years and l look forward to receiving it each week.” Dolores’ friends can write to her at 748 Primas Ave., Promos, PA 19018.
