Beams Set for Route 220 Project

MACKEYVILLE — The setting of massive bridge beams was being completed today, part of phase two of PennDOT’s Route 220/Auction Road project in Lamar Township. The two day installation had been delayed by permitting issues.

The single span bridge for Route 220 will span Route 2008 (Fairground Road).

The phase two work features the construction of the bridge and ramps on the western side of Route 220, adjacent to the Clinton County Fairgrounds. Overall work includes excavation, concrete piping, paving, sign structures, inlets, light poles, guide rail, and miscellaneous items. The contractor for the $12.4 million project is HRI, Inc. of State College.

A 14-foot width restriction on Route 220 northbound and southbound remains in effect until late this year.

Motorists are advised to watch for slow moving and stopped vehicles through the entire work zone and reminded to use caution when traveling through work zones, obey posted speed limits, and always buckle up.
