MACKEYVILLE — Congratulations to Beth Nyman, of Mill Hall for being crowned The Clinton County Fair Queen. The Clinton County Fairgrounds saw it’s 43rd annual Clinton County Fair opening Sunday, August 9.

The Clinton County Fair Queen competition program’s purpose is to bring the spirit of agriculture to the Clinton County Fair and develop relationships between youth in a rural and urban setting.

The coronation of Beth Nyman as this years Fair Queen set the tone for the remaining week of fair festivities.

Pageant contestants, Carly Walizer, Beth Nyman, and Michaela Geyer entered stage right with smiles on their faces, but unprecedented amounts of butterflies in their stomachs.

2014 Fair Queen winner, Mallory Foster gave the opening ceremony speech to the attending audience. Foster said, “Having done this last year I know how you must all be feeling.”

However, It wasn’t all just about looks for each contestant. Contestants were required to write a 300 word essay on “What my fair means to my community,” as well as present a 3-5 minutes speech on “Why you should come to my fair.”

Emotions were high as Beth Nyman registered the words “You are 2015’s Clinton County Fair Dairy Queen!” through her brain.

Nyman said, “I’m just super excited right now. I’m so blessed to have this opportunity and to represent the 2015 Clinton County Fair.”

Although it’s not over tonight for this years Fair Queen. Nyman said, “For the rest of the week at the fair I will be attending a lot of events handing out blue ribbons for 4H members. Throughout the fall we will be doing a lot of parades and in January I will go and compete at the State Fair Competition.”

Aside from her duties as fair queen this week Beth Nyman will be celebrating the win with her family and friends.
