key-base-logoSOUTH WILLIAMSPORT – The second vers, was not the same as the first. The Keystone 10-11 All-Stars settled into their tie-breaker rematch with Montoursville by taking a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning and never looked back, redeeming themselves with a 7-1 victory and the District 12 Championship pennant in their possession.

Keystone pounded out two triples and three singles to set the pace from the batter’s box. In all, Keystone had 12 hits on the day.

Kaden Falls and Brady Bendict led the offensive effort with each recording three hits (triple, double and a single) for their effort. Aaron Miller pounded out a triple and a single. Nash Welch, Blade Myers, Evan Cross and Kelvin Probst each contributed a base hit in the game.

Likewise, the Keystone pitching staff found their rhythm and kept Montour off balance for most of the day.

Cy Probst came in as the starter for Keystone and fared much better than he did in relief about 16 hours earlier. When Probst hit his pitching limit, Brady Bendict took to the mound to close out the contest.

Probst and Bendict combined for 10 strikouts, giving up only three hits and one walk.

Keystone had a special visitor that may have impacted their motivation and lifted their spirits. Justin Kline, dropped by the dugout to speak with the players and coaches to wish them well in their effort.Kline has been recently discharged from a lengthy and challenging hospital stay. The boys were overheard stating … “Lets win this one for Justin,” as Kunes left the area. Many of the 10-11 All-Stars were coached by Kunes during the regular season and had been concerned about there coach’s recent battle with a tough disease. The team felt inspired and a bit more at ease after hearing from their mentor.

Keystone will now represent District 12 in the Section 3 tournament which will be hosted by District 15 in the northern tier area.
