Keystone Pounds East Lycoming 17-0

Wagner and Houser Pitch Perfect Game

key-base-logoHUGHESVILLE — The Keystone Little League Major all-star team, stung in a District 12 opening round loss, continued its run through the losers’ bracket with a resounding 17-0 four-inning win over East Lycoming Monday evening.

The game was highlighted by a combined perfect game spun by starter Colton Wagner and reliever Riley Houser. The duo retired all 12 batters they faced, combining for five strikeouts and throwing only 34 pitches, Wagner going two innings and a third, Houser an inning and two-thirds. Keystone again played errorless ball and only one East Lycoming batter got the ball to the outfield, a pop-up to right fielder Trevor Adair.

Meanwhile the Keystone bats picked up where they left off in the team’s 34-0 win over Jersey Shore on Sunday. This time Keystone rapped out 13 hits, including five homeruns to go with the nine they slugged a day earlier.

Zane Probst paced the offensive onslaught, adding two more homeruns to the three he hit on Sunday, part of a 6-for-7 performance over two games, totaling 13 RBIs. Other homeruns Monday came from Wagner with two and one from Landyn Carson.

Brady Williams added a double and two singles, Peyton Johnson a double and a single; Aidan Major contributed a triple and a single before leaving the game with an injury. Adair had a double. Cleanup hitter Rocco Stark walked in all three of his at bats and scored three runs.

Next up is a Tuesday 6 p.m. losers’ bracket game at the South Williamsport field, the opponent, Loyalsock defeated Muncy 12-4 to advance. A Tuesday win would put Keystone in the losers’ bracket final Wednesday at the Newberry field.
