Honoring Our ‘Greatest Generation’ (Video Report)

Patriotism, Thankfulness Spanning Generations

LOCK HAVEN – It was a very special day for several Clinton County World War II veterans.

Thanks to a pair of very enterprising and dedicated high school juniors that took up the task for their senior project, to honor our county veterans from the “Greatest Generation” with a visit to the nations’s capital that included stops at Arlington National Cemetery, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the WWII Memorial.

Perhaps the best was saved for last as many hundred local residents convened on the parking lot at the Clinton County Community Center to welcome the vets back from their special excursion.

The welcoming committee included many local civic groups, youth groups, and students as well as veteran organizations and other civic groups.

The bus carrying the vets was escorted by several fire trucks as well as several local motorcycle clubs as a special welcome was prepared that included music, medals and plenty of cheerful thanks for the sacrifices this special group of heroes made to make the world a better place for generations to come.
