Lady Bucks Break Skid

bucks-softballFARWELL – The Bucktail softball losing streak is over.

The Lady Bucks were 0-7 headed into Saturday looking for a win either against Galeton or Sullivan County as they hosted the unusual double-header games against two foes.

The first game Galeton jumped on the Lady Bucks with four runs as the final score ended 8-4 Galeton. Maria Morgan led Bucktail by going 2 for 3 and scoring three times. Paige Sockman and Bridget Gardner each added singles in the game.

As Galeton was leaving the Farwell complex Sullivan County arrived and the Lady Bucks had the special sandwich (BBQ Pulled Pork) by Coach Bruce Ransom between games. Paige Sockman on the mound took just four pitches in the first inning for three up and three down.

The Lady Buck momentum carry into the batter’s box as Bucktail posted three runs in the bottom half. In the second inning the Lady Bucks added four more runs as Morgan ripped a double for two RBIs.

This time Bucktail was on the receiving end for walks and errors by SC and took full advantage of scoring on their mistakes, posting their first victory of the season 11-1.

Bucktail was lead by Morgan on the day as she finish 4 for 5 with a triple, two doubles, three walks and 3 RBIs.

Coach Mike Poorman liked what he saw, “We are playing good defense with all of these teams. We just have to continue to get more confidence with our bats.”
