James C. Reeser, 72, of Crestmont passed away peacefully at the Gatehouse of Divine Providence Hospital surrounded by his family after a long, courageous battle with illness.

Born on December 12, 1942 in York, he was the son of the late Carroll R. and Eleanor Klingman Reeser.

Jim was a graduate 1960 graduate of William Penn High School.

After graduating from Lock Haven University in 1964 with his Bachelor of Science degree in Education, Jim taught in the Selinsgrove School District where he also served as the head basketball coach.

On June 19, 1965 in Renovo, Jim married the former Carole Leonard who survives. They would have celebrated their 50th anniversary this June.

In 1975 he earned his Master of Science degree in Education from Bucknell University.

From 1966 through 2000, Jim held numerous positions in the Admissions Office at Lock Haven University as well as Director of Alumni Affairs. Jim retired from the University in 2001 after having served as the Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid. During his time at Lock Haven University, Jim was instrumental in establishing the Roll of Service and Haven League.

Jim was very active in the community, having served on the Lock Haven Area YMCA Board of Directors, Salvation Army Board of Directors, Lock Haven Kiwanis, United Way Board of Directors where he served as both Campaign Co-Chair as well as President, and Clinton County Recreation Authority. Currently he was serving on the Clinton County Revolving Loan Fund Board, Lock Haven University Foundation Board, Jersey Shore Hospital Board, and Pine Creek Municipal Authority where he had previously held the position of Secretary, Vice Chairman, and Chairman.

Jim was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed spending time at his family’s camp, Black Gap Camp.

He was also a passionate golfer and a member of the Clinton Country Club.

In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by two sons, Stephen and his wife Becky and Brian ad his wife Rhonda Reeser, both of Verona, VA; a brother, Charles and his wife Vicki Reeser of Kingsport, TN; a sister, Patricia and her husband Harold Steidler of York; three grandchildren: Madi, Ally, and Brandon Reeser; two nephews, Justin and Sean Steidler; and a niece, Wendy and her husband Leonard Young.

A funeral will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Covenant United Methodist Church, 44 W. Main St., Lock Haven. Burial will be at Rest Haven Memorial Park.
Friends and family will be received at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington on Friday from 5 until 8 p.m.
