Words of Grace – Feb. 26, 2015

WordsOfGrace“The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it” (Psalm 68:11).

When the published word of God goes forth, it shall not return void, according to Isaiah 55:11. It shall accomplish all that God intends for it to do. He shall cause it to be prosperous in what it was sent to do.

A pastor in England was visiting with a Christian woman who was dying. When he asked her how she had found Christ, she handed him a piece of paper. It had been torn from an American journal that contained a portion of one of Charles Spurgeon’s sermons.

The woman explained that the paper had been used to wrap a package that was sent to her from Australia. When she read the words of Spurgeon, they were instrumental in bringing her to Savior.

Someone once commented on this incident, writing: “Think of it! A sermon preached in England, printed in America, in some way coming to Australia, a part of it used as wrapping paper there, coming back to England, was the means of converting this woman!”

This should encourage us to keep giving the published word of God to those who need the Lord. Sow the seed and plant the word through the printed page. Gospel tracts, as it has been said, “have been wonderfully used of God in the salvation of souls.”
